Parkview Hotel Mudgee: A heritage hotel wrapped in modern luxury
You’ve sampled Mudgee’s wines and craft beers, hiked adventurous nature walks, and dined at hatted restaurants. But have you delved into its history? Discover Mudgee’s past wrapped in elegant modern comforts at Parkview Hotel, one of the region’s most distinguished heritage-listed buildings.
Imbued with History and Character
The heritage building was believed to have been built in 1871, predating some of Mudgee’s most iconic landmarks, including the 1880 Town Hall on Market Street. Originally constructed as an early ‘house and land’ package, the hotel eventually transitioned into a ‘first class’ guest house in 1909.
Many years later in 2016, local couple Debbie and Peter stepped in to rescue the then-neglected building, determined to preserve its history while breathing new life into its storied walls. After purchasing the property, the couple renovated consciously, saving the history and bones of the building with a ‘repurpose’ rather than ‘replace’ approach.
Wandering into the reception, you’ll notice the hotel’s brochure stand crafted from the original verandah’s wood, while the marble countertop comes from reclaimed materials from one of the original suites.
The rooms have maintained the historic character that’s woven throughout the hotel; no two rooms are alike, each with its distinct personality. As Hannah from Parkview Hotel puts it, “No cookie-cutter rooms for us”. Choose from one of seven suites of different sizes or if you’re exploring the region with family or friends, opt for the spacious apartment.
Local produce at your fingertips
When it’s time to drag yourself away from perhaps the comfiest bed you’ve ever slept in, there’s so much on your doorstep to explore. The Parkview Hotel team recommends touring the region’s wineries with VIP Wine Tours or Mudgee Explorer Tours. But not before you’ve filled up on delicious breakfast eats from Millbrie, just a five-minute walk along Market Street. When dinner comes around, you’ll be pleased to see The Barn at Blue Wren Farm – serving up some of the best produce in town
If you’d rather hang out on the verandah or in the comfort of your room, you’ll find Mudgee produce galore in your mini fridge. From Robert Stein’s farm wine series to gorgeous sparkling rose and merlot bottled down the road at Lowe Family Wine Co., and Three Tails Brewery’s craft beers.
Savouring the flavours of Mudgee has never been easier. Just imagine…
